Wow, I just tried the "yanks are coming" one. What the heck is that? Did you actually read all of that? I feel ashamed of myself when you say that. Maybe I am too busy or have very little patience. Probably useful articles, however, due to my inability to concentrate for long (I asume) I could not actually make out what that was all about :confused::confused::confused::D:D

I was not aware that EB3 were getting over regular allotment....but porting is the only way i see people getting the GC in a reasonable time-frame if you are stuck in EB3 queue :cool:
An analogy would be to compare porting to the HOV traffic lane. If you qualify, do port and you would get to your destination faster. It is perfectly legal too and no one should be complaining about people porting if they qualify for it.

That is an exact copy and paste, it says imported images can be used. Also, even if it isn't stated, I think it is implied that you can.
Just be sure they aren't copywrited because then you can get in copywrite trouble :(

I am in the same boat, changed my mind to apply for AP in the last minute and mailed my application on Aug 16th, USPS messed it up and couldn't deliver it on Aug 17th, tried delivering it on 18th but didnt since offices were closed finally delivered it on 20th.
Now my AP application got rejected citing that I should have applied with new fee of $305 starting July 30th.
What is confusing is where does it says post marked by Aug 17th? I thought USCIS had to receive it by Aug 17th.
write the following on the envlope using marker
DO NOT OPEN IN THE MAIL ROOM
and address the package to director of the service center also include the evidance that you have applied when the visa bulliten is current

Hi Friends.
I got the pink slip 3 weeks back with one month severance. So my target was to secure the job in one month to avoid loss of pay. Finally secured the job with 3 offers from 3 top companies.
Some tips if it may be helpful to others , that I recently expereinced
1. Read your resume thoroughly and see if there are anything that you can improve and make the resume with the core skills, do not make the resume of mix of different profiles, like dba, architect, project manager, make them all seperate.
2. Try to make the submission to the direct employer or recruiter on top of the chain. You can do that finding contacts on linked in.
3. Do not compromise a lot, this makes these recruiters to think that you are vulnerable for any exploitation, (happened with me, I kicked there butt after getting selected and telling them on why did I do that)
All the best to everyone.

But I am Commerce graduate (3 years) from India and with over 11 years of IT experience, am I eligible for EB2? Can I use my experience to make up for 1 year. There is no rule/law that'll help you get a green card if you stay here for 10 years or even 50 years.

We(My wife and I) recently (July 2009) got our FPs done. immediately after that our cases got transferred from TSC to VSC.
PD: Feb 14, 2005.
I thought VSC is not processing any I-485 applications. Is anyone else in the same status ?

NRE accounts--> interest earned is not taxable in India but has to be reported in your 1040 here.
NRO accuont--> earns very high interest rates (was 11%) just a few months ago. There will be TDS but you can file an income tax return and claim the amount that they deducted above what you would be taxed.
For eg:- if your total interest earned is 100,000 they would withhold upto 30% of it (may be lesser depending upon your situation). When you file your returns your total income is only 100,000 which is below the taxable limits and therefor you will be returned all that was witheld. Only those with interests >180,000 per anum will really lose money.
Some people split accounts and try to hide interest income. This is not advisable if you ever want to repatriate the interest income. Once you have payed required taxes on the interest you can repatriate any amount of interest income to the US. Many people use this as a source of regular income.

When my AP came up for renewal my attorney asked to get new set of photos.
In addition my cousin's EAD application got RFE'ed to get new set of photos even though the photos were recent. The reason given was that they had used same photos to renew their visa few months back (less than 6 months).
Is USCIS coming up some new rule about photos being 'unused' ?? The guidelines say that photos should be recent (taken in last 6 months). However nowhere I do I see that the photos should be 'unused' previously ?
Anyone else had same experience ?

If you had expressed yourself better (from your first post, I believed you wanted to file by yourself), I wouldn't have bothered with my response.
Saying that, you are right: attorneys do screw up. It happened to me...
But practically speaking, considering how complex a file can be, good luck to you on checking an attorney's job.

Can we contact journos like Neil Cavuto, Sheryl Casone to talk about how giving GC to legals like us can stimulate economy in someway?
I noticed these Business section journos are endlessly talking about ways to prevent the recession.
We can suggest them to talk about recapturing of visas & giving the legals GCs as it can contribute towards (to some extent) a possible stimualtion to the economy(it will surely add to the percentage...) surely we are boosting the spending by making high earning legals spend more on say housing or Autos by giving them GCs...
Not sure if IV gurus are thinking on these lines.

If you have copy of approved I-140, then your priority date would be mentioned there.
